Jono Manson

Jono Manson plays on the Taberna Stage from 6pm-8pm

Jono Manson is a prolific singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, producer and an engaging performer. During a storied career spanning over five decades he has played everywhere from the local dive to Madison Square Garden and has amassed an impressive discography that includes major label and indie releases on three continents. Jono has produced albums for Grammy winners and local heroes, American Idol finalists and Folksingers, Italian pop stars and Pakistani Sufi folk-rockers.

Born and raised in New York, Manson began his professional career in the 1970s as a teenager in the city’s dirty dive bars, where six-hour gigs were the norm and nights out rarely ended before sunrise. By the early ’80s, Manson was a highly respected figure on the club circuit, and his band, Joey Miserable and The Worms, were a force to be reckoned with. The New York Times called the group “local heroes” and credited them with influencing “countless” other acts, including the likes of Joan Osborne, who hailed them as “master entertainers” who “always had the crowds eating out of their hands.” In the decades to come, Manson would go on to develop a career as a recording artist and producer in Italy, continue to perform his own music far and wide, compose for major motion pictures, and play alongside Bruce Springsteen, Emmylou Harris, and Joan Baez on the occasion of Pete Seeger’s 90th birthday.

He currently makes his home in Santa Fe, NM, where he has put down deep roots in the local community, as a performer, educator, organizer and producer. He is the founder and chief engineer of “The Kitchen Sink” recording studio where he has nurtured creative projects for countless artists, emergent and established alike. Jono has six times been named “Producer of the Year” by the New Mexico Music Awards.

Sol Fire

Sol Fire plays on the Taberna Stage from 6pm-8pm

Sol Fire, led by guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Amado Abeyta and his brother guitarist/vocalist/songwriter Buddy Abeyta, are known for their unique sound that fuses rock with pop, R&B and Latin influences.

The concept of brothers collaborating in a rock band is far from new and hardly overlooked in the music industry. Oasis, Van Halen, The Everly Brothers and The Beach Boys are a small example of how a fraternal connection can produce success in music. The Abeyta brothers of Sol Fire are no exception.

Beginning their musical careers at an early age, the brothers formed Sol Fire in 2002. Two years later, they entered the studio and released their debut album, “Self Titled.”

Since then, Sol Fire has become a household name in Santa Fe and New Mexico.

In the summer of 2006, Sol Fire released their second studio album, “Third Floor Serenade.” The buzz around their second release took Sol Fire to new heights when they were chosen as only one of three bands to be showcased in the New Mexico Lottery Powerball commercials and ad campaigns. They were also the only band chosen to produce two commercials, one in English and one in Spanish, proving that their music can reach a diverse audience.

Ten days before the 2008 election, Sol Fire sang the national anthem and performed an acoustic set before George Lopez and then Presidential candidate Barack Obama spoke at a rally in Albuquerque, N.M., with 45,000 in attendance.

Their original sound has taken the band to a variety of venues, such as performing the National Anthem at the University of New Mexico Pit and Tingley Coliseum, headlining the Santa Fe Fiesta’s street dance, and headlining the burning of Zozobra multiple times with crowds of 20,000 plus.

Being able to share their music with so many different people has been Sol Fire’s greatest honor. And through the success that they have gained in New Mexico, the brothers of Sol Fire have proven their dedication to their music by self-producing all of their albums. Their latest album, Hotel Marceline, was mastered for vinyl and digital at Abbey Road Studios, and will be released this year. It is with this drive that Sol Fire and their music continue to grow.
